In September 2010 the Association for Industrial Archaeology held its Annual Conference in Cornwall. Organised by the Trevithick Society the delegates visited many
of the leading industrial heritage and archaeological sites in Cornwall.
Later, based on written feed-back from delegates and committee members, the President's Award is given each year to a site or monument, visited by delegates during Association conferences. The
Award is presented to managers who, in the opinion of the President and his/her advisers, achieve a high standard in interpreting to the public a monument, site or project of industrial
archaeological significance. The site or monument receives a plaque and details of the winning scheme are reported in the Association's publications.
This year the Award went to the King Edward Mine Museum and was presented by Dr Marilyn Palmer on Saturday 16th April 2011.
